About Meijendel

The name Meijendel stems from a large valley (‘del’) located just above The Hague, covered long ago with may-trees (‘Meijen’). It first appeared on a map in 1602. Today it is a 2000 hectare area, enclosing not just the valley, but also oaks and chesnutt woods, surrounded by vast areas of dunes.

Meijendel is popular for recreating, but is also important for drinking water production and sea-defense. It is inhabited by a wide variety of animals and plants. It is a enchanting place, serene, diverse and above all it's got a collection of the most charming trails. A place to get inspired!
